7 Home Remedies to Boost the Breast milk production

Breast milk is in fact the first food the newborn baby has. It has the goodness of everything the baby needs. It protects the baby from infections, diseases.   1. Fenugreek seeds:

Fenugreek is a very traditionally used spice in South Asia that has many medicinal values. It has vitamin A, B, D, Iron, and other nutrients. One of the important use that it stimulated breast milk production.

How to use it?

One teaspoon full of fenugreek seeds can be boiled in water for 3-5 minutes. After this, strain the seeds. The strained water can be drunk plain or some honey, sugar or lemon can be added to enhance the taste. It can be consumed 2-3 times a day and especially early in the morning. Fenugreek seeds can also be soaked overnight and the sprouted fenugreek can be mixed and eaten with salad.

Cumin seeds are a flavorful herb and a popularly used spice. It’s known to have many health benefits and one of them is to increase breast milk production. They are also enriched with iron which can is very essential for new mothers.

How to use it?

One teaspoon of cumin or cumin seeds can be mixed with warm milk and some sugar. This must be consumed every night before going to bed. The cumin powder can also be used with salads, buttermilk, and curries. Cumin seeds can also be boiled in water and the strained mixture which is the cumin water can be sipped all through the day.

Garlic can be consumed by crushing it or chopping it and can be added to your everyday dish. Garlic milk is also a popular drink for new mothers. 2-3 chopped garlic is boiled in water, when it is reduced to a quarter, milk is added. After straining the mixture, sugar or honey can be added. This must usually be consumed in the morning.

Fennel seeds are a common culinary herb known for their medicinal properties and flavor. It has a compound similar to the estrogen secreted by women which aid in more secretion of breast milk.


How to use it?

Fennel water can be prepared by boiling some fennel seeds in water and the strained water can be taken few times a day. Honey or sugar can be added to enhance sweetness. Sometimes fried fennel seeds can also be eaten and they can also be added to some of the dishes we do.

  1. Drumstick:

Drumstick, which is also known as Moringa is an excellent source of all the nutrients a new mother will need. Its leaves, pods (which is the drumstick) do wonders by doubling the breast milk secretion.

How to use it?

It can be consumed as juice by extracting the drumsticks. This can be taken twice a month. The drumstick leaves are dried and made into powder. This can be mixed in water or tea. The powder can be mixed in the foods we eat every day like salad, soup, sauce, etc. The leaves can also be roasted in ghee and consumed. It is better to take these early in the morning.

Masoor dal is also known as red lentil is a good source of protein and fiber. It is very commonly cooked in South India and can elevate the production of breast milk.

How to use it?

Masoor dal can be cooked with ghee. It can also be boiled with vegetables or even the boiled dal can be mixed with rice and consumed. It can sometimes be used as a side dish too. Spices and herbs can be added to enhance the taste.

Shatavari is a very popular ayurvedic herb that has a number of health benefits. It is an excellent choice to overcome the problem of decreased milk secretion. It enhances the production of corticoids and prolactin, thus ultimately increases the quantity of breast milk and the quality too.

This herb is available in liquid, powder, and tablet forms. One teaspoon of the powder can be mixed in water and be consumed once or twice a day. The supplements of this herb can also be consumed once or twice a day.
