Children prefer the taste of the snack over healthy food. So, we must make efforts to serve them healthy and yummy snacks. The options of healthy and yummy snacks are a lot. Most of us fail to associate yummy food with healthy. We think children would love only chocolate and chips, but they would also love a healthy snack that is equally yummy. Make healthy snacks a daily routine. Children love to eat any snack between their meals. Here are some options of healthy snacks that kids will love.
1) Mixed Nuts chat
Nuts are the best source of proteins. They help a lot in the brain development of children. Peanuts, Almonds, Pista and cashew nuts, walnuts are loaded with nutrients. The chat could be made yummier with some addition of salt. The nuts that are fried light with a pinch of salt would make the kids want it more. Nuts must be soaked in water and the top skin has to be removed in almonds and peanuts before frying. Few veggies like carrots and onion along with the nuts with make the chat rich in vitamins. Children may not like a much spicy chat. The care must be taken according to their preference while serving them the chat.
2) Flavored Yogurt

Yoghurts are rich in calcium. They are also rich in vitamin B6 and phosphorous. Yoghurts are available in the market. But they would contain preservatives. It is a must to check for added preservatives if chose to buy them from markets. Organic yoghurts are the best for kids. It is not very hard to make yoghurt. It is best to make it at home to make it yummier and healthier. Children need healthy bones to develop well and play with energy. Yoghurts calm the mind of children too. Plain yoghurts wouldn’t be yummy. Add juices of strawberry, orange apple or banana to make it floured. The kid would also get the nutrient value of the fruits that are added to the yoghurt.
3)Boiled Eggs
Boiled eggs are a quick and easy snack for kids. Make it a habit of the child to have one egg per day. A child can have it as a brunch. The child may not like a plain boiled egg. So, cut it and add a pinch of salt and pepper to make it yummy. Eggs are rich in protein, fat, vitamin A, D, E and B12. They help in the overall development of the kid. Eggs could also improve the immune power of kids and keep them free from the common cold and flu. Boiled egg can also be served along with lunch or breakfast to make the meal completely healthy.
4)Roasted lotus seeds

Roast the lotus seeds and add some ghee to make it yummier. We can also add spices like turmeric, salt and pepper. Cook in medium flame to avoid over roasting the seeds. Lotus seeds are rich in iron content and they will keep the hemoglobin level at the right levels. They are also rich in calcium, phosphorous, carbohydrates and zinc. They wouldn’t fill the stomach much and so the meal of the kid is also not disturbed.
5)Fruit and vegetable smoothies

Most children do not eat fruits and vegetables as they aren’t yummy. Fruits and vegetables must be a part of the diet to be balanced and rich in nutrient value. Parents have to think of innovative ways to feed veggies and fruits for their children. Smoothies are the best way to make them have plenty of fruits and veggies in their diet. Do not add a lot of sugar as it may harm the kid. Add a moderate amount of sugar and make it thick. Do not serve them very chill if the child is prone to common cold and respiratory infections. The snack should be healthy and balanced in nutrient value. So, never go for unhealthy ways to feed healthy fruit and veggies. Of course, frozen fruits are a part of a smoothie, but make sure that you don’t serve it very often for the kid. Go for the child’s favorite fruit or veggie to make a smoothie. Smoothies can also be made with spinach. Peanut butter and vitamin powder along with the smoothie will make it yummier.
The parents have to be wise enough to feed them healthy. If some kids find the healthy snack not yummy, the parents have to get more creative to choose ingredients and give them a snack that is rich in nutrients. The snack shouldn’t just fill the stomach, but it much also gives them the energy to function effectively. It is essential to note that we do not overfeed the snack on thinking it to be healthier. Any snack is good when it is given in the right quantity.
